CHALUTZIM UNIT HEAD:

My name is Emily Marushak, but many of you may remember me as “Shak”! I am 23 years old and love Camp Sisol. I am looking forward to returning to Camp Sisol because of all the great experiences and camp fun. I graduated from Nazareth College in 2008 with a B.A. in Mathematics and NYS Certification in Adolescent Education and Teaching Students with Disabilities (grades 7-12). I will graduate in May from the University of Rochester with a M.S. in Inclusive Mathematics Education. Over the last two school years, I have taught 9th and 10th grade math in local school districts. My education program has prepared me not only to be an effective teacher, but also an individual who is able to manage students of all abilities. This year I can’t wait for camp to begin and to spend my summer with the Chalutzim campers, exploring different camping opportunities across the state. As an active adult, I love to be engaged in outdoor activities including sports and group games. As a teacher, I know how to think on my feet quickly and devise new activities that engage campers on the spot, lead activities that campers come to love, and communicate with parents and guardians. I love everything outdoors; whether it be playing sports or camping or swimming in the pool.
